While one could use a "catch & release" policy to train their Pokemon, there is no risk involved with grinding in this manner, and if there's no risk, it's not much of Nuzlocke run. Thus, grinding in the traditional manner is impossible. Additionally, catching Pokemon can provide a lot of exp to the party, while the exp from fainting trainer Pokemon is reduced in these games. In the Pokemon Let's Go versions, wild Pokemon can only be captured, and cannot be battled. And what better game to get back into it than the one that doesn't actually work with the classic Nuzlock rules? Yaay. It's been a long time (and at least one website?) since I last did a Nuzlocke run, but I have returned in a new evolved form! I happened to buy Scarlet Version, and had a ton of fun playing it, so I figured I should try out a Nuzlocke again. Once hitting the maximum combo, 31 (although you can still continue to catch more of the same kind of Pokémon after this if you’d like), you’ll now have a one in 341 chance of landing on a shiny. As your chain increases, so do the odds of finding a shiny Pokémon. Most players are having luck chaining catch combos, which are racked up when capturing several of the same species of Pokémon. We’ll first recommend a more accessible, well-tested method, however. ![]() And if you want an extra boost, you’ll also have to become a Pokémon Master first.
